Teofil Paraian, archimandrite The path to goodness The present book contains sermons I gave at Brâncoveanu Monastery, Sâmbãta de Sus. Although occasioned by the community’s confession, they do not directly concern confession proper. Most of the times, I made them up spontaneously, for the benefit of the listeners. Many ideas came to my mind as I was speaking, so one could call them inspired. They are indeed inspired, by my life experience and the culture I was able to build for myself. I entitled the book “Path to goodness” as my sermons concern man’s general and particular improvement. There are, doubtlessly, other values man could pursue, but no one equals goodness. Goodness makes us alike to the Good God and takes us close to Him, both in our earthly and our eternal lives. It is goodness that takes us before God, and keeps us in touch with Him.
