The Lives of the Venerable Romil of Vidin and Theodosius of Tarnovo
Translation from Bulgarian by Gheorghiţă Ciocioi
Saints Romil of Vidin and Theodosius of Tarnovo are direct disciples – the best-known ones of their times – of St. Gregory of Sinai, the great 14th -century hesychast director. A history of Hesychasm failing to include these two great strugglers of Vlach origin, would perpetrate an inexcusable omission. We hope that the present translation, which is the first one into Romanian, of the lives of these two saints – St. Romil of Vidin, a great wonderworker, whose relics are kept at Ravanita Monastery in Serbia, and St. Theodosius of Tarnovo, who established the thriving hesychast lavra of Kelifarevo, had the gift of foreseeing and guiding people on the way to salvation – will be of great use for its readers.
