Saint Job of Pochaev. His life, teachings, and akathist hymn
Translated from Russian by Gheorghita Ciocioi
The crucial element of Pochaev – the greatest Orthodox Lavra in this side of the world, soon to commemorate 770 years since its establishment – lies not in its multitude of gilded domes, that can be seen from great distance, nor in the number of its dwellers today (over 300), but in the testament of this holy place walked by the feet of so many righteous people. The millions of pilgrims who come to venerate the holy relics here – the „Imprint" of the Holy Virgin’s foot, the relics of Saints Job and Amphilochios of Pochaev, the wonder-working icon of the Mother of God – all testify to the fact that St. Job’s cave (where he prayed for over 40 years) contains a great mystery. It is, in fact, the mystery of the Great Lavra of Pochaev. The book „St. Job of Pochaev", now published in Romanian for the first time, presents the life and insightful teachings of this great saint.
