Orthodoxy in the Holy Fathers’ Writings. Vol. 2
Edited by Florin Stuparu
God has not Kept us ignorant, for awareness that He is God is put by Him into man’s nature. The very existence of creatures, the working of providence, God’s economy testify to God’s majesty. God has given us as much knowledge of Him as we need – first by the Law and the prophets, then through His Only-Begotten Son – our Lord, and God, and Saviour Jesus Christ. Thus we acknowledge and honour everything given to us by the Law, the prophets, the apostles, the evangelists, and seek for nothing more. As God, Who is Good, is the giver of good things, since He is not prone to resentment or any other failing.
Therefore – as He Who knows all and provides all things good and profitable to each of us – God has revealed what was necessary for us to know, and has kept hidden what is beyond our power and understanding. This we receive and this we keep, refraining from trespassing eternal boundaries and from infringement of the divine teachings!
