Niceta de Remesiana, sf.
Complete Works
Translation from Latin, foreword, notes by Reader dr. Ovidiu Pop
Saint Nicetas of Remesiana, the Dacians’ bishop, was the first of our ancestors’ teachers known of, a theologian and catechist, a missionary of faith. He lived and preached during the early Christian era, between the years 338 and 420, in the Lower Danube area, but became known throughout the Christian world as one of the Church teachers (doctores ecclesiae).
During his rich, fruitful missionary activity, he taught in writing too, and his extant works are now offered for the first time to the Romanian readership, in a bilingual edition (Latin text and Romanian translation) constituting a belated, but honest commemoration of this unflagging preacher of the Christian teachings, also a gifted writer.
The reader will find a part of the forgotten history of our people, a scientific document able to catch the experts’ legitimate attention, and stir the general interest in such paragon of tireless effort for one’s neighbour progress along the way of spiritual improvement.
