Iurasov, Ambrozie, fr
A Guidebook to Confession
Translation from Russian by Xenia Tănăsescu‑Vlas
Father Ambrose Iurasov, known since the times of the communist regime as an experienced spiritual director, established in the 1990s a convent at Ivanovo, as a dependency of the Cathedral dedicated to “The Presentation of the Theotokos”.
As a staretz, he attaches special importance to confession, to a heartfelt, tight relationship with his spiritual children, to the observance of evangelic commandments, and rejects today’s “lukewarm” attitude towards salvation.
A gifted preacher, he is invited to participate in Christian TV and radio programs; he is noted for his rich publicistic activity on apologetic, catechetic and homiletic topics. He is well-known in the Russian ecclesiastic environment, and could be called a “Father Cleopa” of today’s Russia.
The present book offers simple and precise directions for a full healing and cleansing of the soul, through the Sacrament of Confession: acknowledging the spiritual illness that afflicts us, opening our soul before the confessor, overcoming the shame, all are approached and made easily understandable. A fundamental book on one of the essential foundations of spiritual life: reconcilement with God through the confession of sins.
